We must ensure that appropriate infrastructure is ready and open to communities and businesses moving into this region.

EEH Chair Cllr Adam Zerny has welcomed yesterday's debate in Parliament on the Oxford-Cambridge Growth Corridor.
He said: "It was great to see our local MPs highlighting the potential of the Oxford-Cambridge Growth Corridor in Parliament. With so much going on across the region, it’s incumbent upon all of us - government, local authorities, businesses and academic institutions – to ensure our residents receive the benefits from future investment in this area.
As many MPs rightly made clear, the government has targeted this region for significant economic and housing growth in the Oxford to Cambridge Growth Corridor. This is only possible with a commitment to funding the infrastructure required, from the outset. The importance of improved transport connectivity in the Corridor was raised on many occasions during the debate, alongside energy, water management, skills and healthcare.
We must ensure that appropriate infrastructure is ready and open to communities and businesses moving into this region. If we can all work together, there is huge potential to bring about major improvements for the public."
During the debate, Cambridge MP Daniel Zeichner, said: "England’s Economic Heartland tells me that delivering an integrated transport system in the corridor should not be a choice for Government, because that is absolutely essential—and it is right. The global significance of the Oxford to Cambridge growth corridor means that it should be matched with a world-class transport offer, embedding the principles of the imminent integrated national transport strategy from the outset. It makes economic sense to do so, and the corridor should be an exemplar for that strategy."
Cllr Zerny added: "EEH will continue to play a vital role co-ordinating with the government and all other agencies to bring about transport improvements. We’re at the forefront of ensuring East West Rail acts as a catalyst for much wider improvements to the transport system. We believe this region can be a trailblazer for the Government’s forthcoming Integrated National Transport Strategy and we will continue to play a crucial convening role bringing people together to make our shared ambitions a reality for this region."
