The Chair of England's Economic Heartland and the Chair of the Integration Taskforce have responded to the publication of the Department for Transport's 'Better Connected' Transport Strategy

Cllr Adam Zerny, Chair of England's Economic Heartland, and Stephen Joseph, Chair of EEH's Integration Taskforce, respond to launch of Better Connected transport strategy:

Cllr Adam Zerny said: “We welcome the strategy, which includes positive aims for our transport system – one we hope can become truly integrated, simple to use, truly innovative and sustainable. Developments such as East West Rail, Universal Studios, and airport expansion mean the Oxford-Cambridge region and EEH, are well-placed to lead the way in creating an integrated transport system that really works for the public. We are supportive of any changes which attempt to make it easier for residents to use public transport, and to get the best deal.

EEH is working nationally and locally to harness these once-in-a-generation opportunities to realise a better-connected, world class transport system which befits our globally-significant region.”

EEH has assembled a panel of national experts which will guide our major programme of work on integration in the region.Chair of the Integration Taskforce Stephen Joseph said: "The Better Connected strategy is very welcome and sets out a general blueprint for joining up and improving transport. The taskforce I'm chairing will seek to apply this blueprint to the Oxford-Cambridge corridor and advise EEH and its members on practical ways to improve and integrate transport in the area and make the most of the transport and other investment going into the area.”
